We all know Europe from their hit "The final countdown". The rockband was a phenomenon in the 80's. Now the guys have returned with a brand new album and on Saturday November 13th 2004 they performed live in 013 (Tilburg). We thought it would be time for some intimite chit chat...
Our conversation with lead singer Joey Tempest was só relaxed, that the other bandmembers joined him on the sofa.
We were actually kind of curious if Joey was still a rough rocker or that the years had taken it's toll. Of course we also discussed their new album "Start from the dark" and the 80's.
Q: Do you think the audience has changed since the 80's?
A: It's really cool now to perform live. We think it's great we can play for a whole new generation. We don't just have our old fans, we also gained new ones.
Q: What's your opinion of the whole 80's revival with bands like Duran Duran?
A: A revival isn't really on our minds right now. We've took a long break en now we're back with a new album. Our new material is not the same as what we did before. It's different. I think that's not the case with Duran Duran. They still sound the same.
Q: What are your plans for the new album?
A: We still have lots of shows to do in England and the rest of Europe. We also play in America and Japan. After that we will play at festivals, probably in Holland too (!)

A: Start from the dark (duh), cause that's our new album.
Q: Touring or in the studio?
A: We rather go on tour. We travel a lot right now cause we perform everywhere.
Q: Britney or Christina?
A: Definately Christina! I think she really got talent and is becoming a real diva after all those years.
Q: Vodka or beer or a combination?
A: Beer! I can really go for that!
Q: To the beach or snowboarding?
A: The beach! I've tried snowboarding but I always ended up blue and brewsed (or broosed? I really forgot the English word :P). Then I quit, but I think skiing is great!
Q: Fast and the furious or Hitchcock?
A: Hitchcock! I always tried to find him in his own movies when I was little.
(Hitchcock appeared for a second in all of his own movies)
Q: Staying up late or early to bed?
A: Going out of course! We're back as a 'partying band'
Q: Kötbullar (populair Swedish dish) or pancakes?
A: Kötbullar for sure! (Joey thought that our wrong Swedish pronounciation was really funny)
Q: Dutch or Swedish women?
A: Err, ...Let's combinate it.... (Joey tries to avoid the question in a tactical way)
